Govt. plans to build 14 international airports in 2011

 

Minister of Transportation Freddy Numberi said that several airports would be established to support the operational activity of the airports that have already exists.

“I did not remember where the exact location it will be, but some will be establish to support the existing airports. Such as the airport establishment in North Bali to support Ngurah Rai and around Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) to support Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” he said today.

Besides the establishment of 14 airports, said Freddy, the government will also increase the capacities of five main airports i.e. Soekarno-Hatta Cengkareng, Juanda Surabaya, Polonia Medan, Ngurah Rai Denpasar, and Hasanuddin Makassar.

“The development of five airports capacities is related with the implementation of Asean Connectivity. Later, on 25 September, we’ll discussed the Asean Connectivity in Hanoi [Vietnam],” he said.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his speech of State Budgetary Plans 2011 said that the state expenditure budget will be used to develop and rehabilitate 118 airports also establish 14 new airports.

As for Ministry of Transportation receive allocation fund of State Budgetary Plans 2011 in amount of IDR21.4 trillion with air transport operator and management program in amount of IDR4.9 trillion.

Minister of Transportation said that his party will collaborates with private investor if the allocation fund of State Budget is inadequate.

“I did not remember how much funds are needed to establish 14 airports. If it can be conducted and there is opportunity for it, then we’ll collaborates with private investor if lack of state budget fund,” he said. (t06/wiw)
