The Minister of Labor and Transmigration has issued the Regulation of Minister of Labor and Transmigration No. Per.17/MEN/VIII/2009 concerning the Enactment of Pre-departed Briefing of Indonesian Migrant Worker Overseas.It shall be effective as of 6 August 2009.
The regulation stipulates that all of Indonesian Prospective Migrant Worker has to be provided the Pre-departed Briefing (Pembekalan Akhir Pemberangkatan/PAP) in order to prepare the workers for their employment placement included but not limited to the instruction on cultural issues, danger of drugs and HIV/AIDS, and work related risks. The briefing/PAP will be conducted for 2 days or equal to 20 hours and will be completed 2 days prior to departure.
The briefing/PAP will be held by Director General within the Ministry and may be assisted with relevant agencies. The authority to hold the briefing can be delegated to Governors from the province where the Indonesian Migrant Workers are being briefed.
