Mr. Timbul Thomas Lubis was born in Tarutung, North Sumatera, Indonesia, on January 27, 1948. He obtained his law degree (S.H.) from the (1)Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia in 1974 and was admitted to the Indonesian Bar in 1977. He went on to obtain a masters degree in law (LL.M.) in 1981 from the (2)University of Washington in Seattle, USA. Mr. Lubis has also completed the Accounting Management Program at the (3)Management Institution at the University of Indonesia.In addition to being a member of the Indonesian Bar Association, Mr. Lubis is also a long-serving and active patron of many sporting bodies. Since 1984, he has served as the Vice-Secretary General of Indonesian National Sports Committee ((4)KONI), (5)Olympic Council of Indonesia (1986-1994) and as the Secretary of the Rules Committee of the (6)South East Asian Games Federation (1987-1994). Secretary General of Indonesia Shorinji Kempo Self-Defence Association ((7)PERKEMI) (since 1984), Councilor of the (8)World Shorinji Kempo Organisation (2002-2006), Vice President, International Relations of KONI/KOI (2003–2007), Vice President PB. Wushu Indonesia (since 1993), Member of Dewan Kehormatan KONI Pusat (1999-2003), He has also been involved as a member of the National Sports Committee’s Honorary Assembly (1996-1999) and as a member of the Rules Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia (1991-1998). Other activities are Co-Founder and Secretary of Yayasan Kebun Raya Indonesia (since 2001).  

Mr. Lubis often speaks on a number of areas of law, including contracts, property, real estate, labor and investment at professional and educational seminars. 

Mr. Lubis heads the Lubis Ganie Surowidjojo litigation section. He specialises in commercial transactions and Company Law, as well as the areas of Labor, Property and Real Estate Law. Mr. Lubis also has extensive experience in Maritime Law and international arbitration. He has authored several works on Company law and international arbitration. He has authored several works on Company Law and financing which has been published both in Indonesia and abroad.

 Dr. Mohamed Idwan Ganie, born 1955 in Amsterdam, is the Managing Partner of Lubis, Ganie & Surowidjojo, one of Indonesia's largest law firms, established in 1984. He has held this position for over a decade. He graduated from the (1)Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia and holds a Phd in Shipping Law from the (2)University of Hamburg. Later, he went on to complete further legal studies at the (3)Institute for Advanced Legal Studies in London, England; the (4)Max Planck Institute for International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany; and the Staatwissenschaftliche Fakultaet in Zurich, Switzerland.He speaks in various seminars on Foreign Investment, Lease Financing, Shipping Law, Mining Law and other topics. In addition to that, Dr. Ganie is a lecturer at University of Indonesia and Advocate Course of (5)PERADIN (Association of Indonesian Advocates) (since 1984), as well as Chairman of the Drafting Team of the National Maritime Law Code (navigation Section).   

Dr. Ganie has an expertise in Capital Market, Project Finance, General Corporate, Investment (including Foreign Investment), Corporate Finance and Secured Transactions (including Lease Financing and Vessel Financing), Mining Law (including gold and coal), Maritime/Shipping Law, Tax, Insurance (including Marine Insurance), Bankruptcy, Liquidation, Corporate Reorganization (including Mergers and Consolidation). 

Dr. Ganie is the Chairman of Association of Indonesian Anti-Trust Lawyers (Perkumpulan Konsultan Hukum Persaingan Usaha), a member of Regional Panel of Arbitrators of Singapore International Arbitration Centre ((6)“SIAC) and also the (7)Singapore Institute of Arbitrators as a Fellow membership (FSIArb). Dr. Ganie is admitted to the Indonesian Bar since 1984 and a licensed Indonesian Capital Market lawyer. He speaks Bahasa Indonesia, English, German, Dutch and Latin.

 Mr Arief Tarunakarya Surowidjojo obtained his bachelor’s degree (SH) from the (1)Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia and graduated as the valedictorian in the faculty in 1977. He went on to obtain a Master of Law (LL.M.) from the (2)University of Washington in Seattle in 1984 after admitted to the Indonesian bar in 1980. He worked at two law firms before that, and founded LGS with the other two partners in 1985. Specialising in corporate law, corporate and project finance, particularly capital markets, merger & acquisition, mining, environmental, commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolutions, he has acted as the lead lawyer in hundreds of IPOs, rights issues and other capital market transactions, in addition to another in excess of 100 M&A deals. His client representations include: (3)Astra International, (4)Sampoerna, (5)Unilever, (6)the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, (7)Dow Chemicals, (8)Friesland, (9)Charoen Pokphand, (10)Trakindo and (11)Bank Mandiri. This list shows his remarkable experience in dealing with major Indonesian companies, foreign multinationals and government.As with his specialty in corporate law, he is highly active in the business world. He acts as an independent commissioner and member/president of the Audit Committee in companies such as (12)PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk, (13)PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk, and President Commissioner in PT Agranet Multicitra Sibercom (owner of the largest online-based news agency in the country, ((14)detik.com) and PT Justika Siar Publika (owner of ((15)hukumonline.com, the largest legal database online media in Indonesia), independent commissioner and a member of the Good Corporate Governance Committee of (16)PT Inco Tbk., and a member of the Good Corporate Governance Committee of (17)PT Indika Energy Tbk.  

Mr Surowidjojo has also a great interest in education. Since 1990, he remains as a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law in University of Indonesia, specializing in business transactions. He is also a board member in (18)Yayasan Cahaya Guru (a foundation focusing on teachers’ welfare) and (19)Putera Sampoerna Foundation (awards scholarships to talented students). In addition, he was an editor for the Asia Business Law Review and is the founder and chief editor of (20)Jentera, an Indonesian law journal.  

He is also very active with various NGOs and is the founder and was the Chairman of the Board for (21)Transparency International Indonesia. He also founded and is a member of the Board for the (22)Indonesian Society for Transparency, (23)WWF Indonesia, the Indonesian Institute for Corporate Governance, and numerous others.

Mr. Abdul Haris Muhammad Rum was born in Klaten, Central Java, Indonesia on October 4, 1966. He obtained his law degree (S.H.) from the (1)Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia, where he was actively involved in student affairs in his capacity as the President of the Law Student’s Senate. He obtained his masters degree in Law (LL.M.) in 1993 from (2)Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. After completing his studies in the USA, Mr. Rum returned to Indonesia and served as legal counsel for (3)Mobil Oil Indonesia Inc., before eventually joining Lubis Ganie Surowidjojo in 1997. Mr. Rum was appointed as Partner of the Firm on January 2001. He is actively involved in the (4)Indonesian Center for Law and Policy Studies and serves as a co-lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia. Mr. Rum’s field of expertise include general corporate, restructuring, capital markets, M&A, project finance, syariah, and Oil and Gas Law. He is also well-versed in Employment Law, as well as the laws relevant to mining and mineral exploration. He has been a key player in many large projects. He is rated by the (5)Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2001/2002 and 2002/2003 editions) as a leading individual in the field of corporate and Merger & Acquisitions.

 Mr Harjon Sinaga was born on 6 June 1966 and graduated from (1)University of North Sumatera in 1993. He has strong general corporate background and specializes in commercial litigation. Since joining LGS in 2001, he has dealt with many cases having concentration in the field of bankruptcy, anti-monopoly and unfair business competition involving Indonesian notable companies such as (2)PT Trimegah Securities Tbk., (3)PT Jakarta International Terminal Container, (4)PT Unilever Indonesia, (5)Goldman Sachs Pte Singapore, (6)PT Mercedes-Benz Indonesia and (7)Temasek Holding Pte Ltd. Aside from being highly occupied with his work load, Mr Sinaga has produced a book on competition law and to this extent is a highly recommended book on its field. Mr. Sinaga was appointed partner of the Firm on January 2009.

Ms. Arisia Arundati Pusponegoro graduated from (1)Harvard Law School with concentration in international finance in 2008. Prior to obtaining her LL.M., she has worked with LGS since 2001 and has strong general corporate background and specializes in M&A, capital market, restructuring, energy and mining, investments, banking and finance. She was the lead lawyer for several major projects which won several awards, including the “South East Asia Deal of the Year” and “Indonesia Deal Firm of the Year” awarded by the Asian Legal Business in Singapore.  

She has extensive experience in capital market transactions such as IPO, bonds issue, rights issue, including offerings using Rule 144A and Regulation S of, among others, (2)Astra International and (3)Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Group, as well as go-private and tender offer transactions. She was a key member in major banking and finance projects, such as compliance review of the debtors of the (4)Bank Indonesia Liquidity Support under the MSAA/ MRNIA/APU schemes (working for the Committee for the Financial Sector Policies (KKSK) of the(5)Department of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia), restructuring of Astra International, representing (6)Pertaminain the financing of Tuban Project, and the refinancing of (7)PT Adaro Indonesia. She also played a lead role in the mergers of (8)Frisian Flag Indonesia group and Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Group, as well as in acquisition transactions such as, acquisition of (9)Pramindo Ikat Nusantara by (10)Telkom, representing (11)PT HM Sampoerna in a number of its property and shares acquisition projects, (12)Bank Danamon in the acquisition of (13)Adira Finance, the acquisition of (14)Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional and acquisition of Sudirman Square by (15)Sampoerna Strategic Group. Ms. Pusponegoro is proficient in representing various types of clients, from blue chip, major domestic and multinational companies, to SOEs and government agencies such as (16)PT Timah Tbk, Pertamina, (17)PLN,(18)Unilever(19)Dow Chemicals and (20)the Directorate General of Post and Telecommunications of the Republic of Indonesia.  

In addition, she currently acts as supervising counsel on general corporate issues for Frisian Flag (Susu Bendera) and Friesland Foods International Group (now FrieslandCampina Group), Charoen Pokphand Indonesia group of companies,(21)TVS Motor Indonesia and (22)Putera Sampoerna Foundation

Ms. Pusponegoro obtained her bachelor of laws (S.H.) from (23)Faculty of Law University of Indonesia, and graduated as valedictorian in 2001. She won the 1st Place for Outstanding Student of the Faculty of Law and became the 2ndRunner Up for the same title at the University of Indonesia level as recognition for her academic achievements and activities, including as the winner of (24)Japan Airlines Scholarship Award in which she represented Indonesia in the Asia Forum in Tokyo, winner of national moot court competition and serving as the regional Secretary General of the(25)ASEAN Law Students’ Association. She was team member of the (26)Asia Cup in Tokyo and a member of the first Indonesian team to (27)the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C. 

She is one of the founders of the Indonesian Society of International Law (ISIL), a non-profit organization for the promotion and development of international law in Indonesia, which administers competitions, seminars and workshops involving law schools all over Indonesia. After serving four years as the Executive Director of ISIL, she is now in its Board of Patrons. She is also a guest lecturer at University of Indonesia and speakers in seminars and trainings.
